27 Apr 2007, 4:45 pm / Disapointed

One of my friends that I know from fanfiction.net got shot in the leg last week. I just found this out last night when I was responding to some emails that I didn't get the chance to answer because of the hubby being on the computer all day.

I was really saddened by this. She's only 13 and no child should ever have to feel pain like that. EVER!! I was angered, mixed with sadness and worry. She tells me that she can't walk at the moment and she's in a lot of pain. She seems to be in good spirits, which is encouraging, but it's sad to see such a happy person struck like that. Anger and violence only leads to pain and suffering to another.

I had to air this out here, mainly because I feel the need to let people know that tragedy can strike anywhere to anyone. We only live one life, and how we choose to ive determines the fate of many others around us indirectly.

Sadness and bitterness only leads to more pain. I'm just glad that she's doing fine. She's really lucky that she wasn't killed. I don't know all the details that surround the shotting, but she did mention that she was in school when it happened, which leads me to believe that it was another student that did this horrific act.

When will it ever end?

I hope her surgery goes good, this is certainly sad news.

I'll put some tobacco down and pray to the Manitou as it is in my custom. I'm an Ojibway/Cree person and this is a "Get Well" post.

No one should ever suffer something like this.

Thats absolutely disgusting and yet sadly, becoming more and more common. I'll never understand what makes kids so angry that they feel that shooting others, as well as themselves is the answer.
All the very best to your friend, I hope she makes a full physical and mental recovery from this horrific event. xoxox

I have been talking to her through the net and she says that she won't know anything until after her second surgery. According to what her mother says, she's going to recover just fine. Yes, there will be both physical and mental scars, but I feel confident that she will bounce back from this tragedy.

This reminds me of the Columbine incident all over again.

Thanks so much for the prayers and thoughts. I will pass the message to her.

Like you, I'm thankful that she can recover from this. *hugs*

OMG
Of course, thank God its an injury she will recover from, hopefully with no lasting physical effects.
Still, the emotional damage won't heal as easily as the flesh.
Hugs and prayers to you and your friend, sfn. This is just WRONG.
